Your School News for Gratitude Season!

ree

I am so filled with gratitude as we head into this fall break: for the inspiring work of our teachers and school staffs, for the soaring success of our students and for the vital support of our community. Every time I am lucky enough to spend time at a school site, I'm so grateful to see our teachers and staff create create learning environments where students feel seen, valued, and supported. I know how demanding this work can be, and I continue to be inspired by the dedication, patience, and steadfast commitment of our educators.

I am grateful to see our students make wonderful strides. In our annual School Dashboards, our Elementary students are 17 points above the California Standard in English Language Arts, while statewide students are 8 points below standard. We are so grateful and proud to see that our Schools are far ahead of the State overall in math, absenteeism, science scores and in our graduation rates.

We are grateful to have the partnership and leadership of our school families. This is the time of year we launch our Annual Family Survey, which is so important to our work as a district: it informs our spending, our staffing and our strategic planning at all of our school sites. We work hard to ensure that parent voice is fundamental to our decision making. You can help and share your priorities by taking the survey here.

We are grateful to have Mental Health counseling services at school—and a new state policy that will help us keep them. California now requires insurance providers to help fund school-based Mental Health Services—at zero cost to our families—but only if families provide consent to contact insurers. Help us by providing yours today!

We are grateful to have had successful Middle School Preview & High School Preview webinars, and to be able to share the recordings with you.

I hope very much that you have a wonderful and restful time away from school. Here at the start of our Fall Break, I want to leave you with the famous Middle School Turkey Trot that kicks off Gratitude season:
