Career Technical Education (CTE) courses combine academic rigor with hands-on learning. Our courses give students an opportunity to explore potential careers with real world experience.
CTE courses are taught throughout all the district's high schools, and many articulate with a-g UC/CSU requirements, as well as articulate with Cabrillo College.
All CTE teachers collaborate with members of the business community to ensure their curriculum is relevant and up to date with today's industry. Students meet members of the business community in each class. They also finish the course with a cover letter and resume of the skills learned in their CTE course.
MAGNET COURSE OFFERINGS
Magnet CTE courses are available to all students in Santa Cruz County. These course take place at various school sites across our district. If you are interested in enrolling in a magnet class, contact our CTE counselor, Sheri Williams (Sherylwilliams@sccs.net), to learn more about your options.
PATHWAY TO CONTINUED EDUCATION
CTE classes can directly lead into further education at Cabrillo Community College. Many CTE classes offer Cabrillo College credit. In addition several CTE classes articulate with Cabrillo College so when students transfer to Cabrillo they do not need to take the entry level course in a sequence.
