Families
who are New to Santa Cruz City Schools:

If you did not have a student enrolled in any SCCS school in the last academic year, please follow the following steps for registration: 

Step 1.
 Determine your neighborhood school by clicking here.

Step 2. Click here to register online

Step 3. Bring the following documents to the school site front office:
 

  • Copy of Immunization Records (required immunizations listed here)
  • Verification of Age (birth record, birth certificate, baptism certificate, passport or affidavit of the parent, guardian or custodian of the minor)
  • Proof of Residence (PG&E or water bill)
You may upload your documents in the registration process, but must still show them in person to the front office staff.

Please complete the online registration process in its entirety, including creating your parent portal at the end.  All parents must have a parent portal.




New Siblings of Current Students:

Parents of current students who have a NEW student beginning in the Fall will find their online application in the Parent Portal (Click on More>Online Registration>New Student Registration).  If you do not have a parent portal, or have forgotten your username or password, please contact your student's current site for assistance.

Current Students Returning for 23-24 Academic Year:

Parents of currents students who are returning in the Fall will need to review and submit their annual online registration in the parent portal beginning on April 1st, 2023. (Click on More>Online Registration>Existing Student Registration).  If you do not have a parent portal, or have forgotten your username or password, please contact your student's current site for assistance.

Attending a school other than your school of residence


We offer the opportunity for students to attend a school outside of their neighborhood's attendance boundary.

For Intradistrict in the 2023-24 school year, the priority filing period for Middle and High Schools is January 13 through February 8. Applications will be available January 13th. Please download the application, complete and return to the District Office of Santa Cruz City Schools, 133 Mission St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060 or via email to [email protected] by 4:30 pm on February 8th (secondary). In the Elementary District, applications will be accepted from February 18th to March 8th. Please download the application, complete and and return it to your school of residence.

Intradistrict Transfers
Students living within Santa Cruz City Schools District that wish to apply for a transfer to a school within our district other than the school of their residence, must apply for an Intradistrict Transfer. Intradistrict Transfers will be granted if space within the school requested exists for a new student. Please use the link below to complete the application:

Interdistrict Transfers
Students living within Santa Cruz City Schools District and wish to attend a school outside the district must complete an Interdistrict Transfer from Santa Cruz City Schools. Please use the link below to complete the application:

Students living outside Santa Cruz City Schools District that wish to attend a school within Santa Cruz City Schools must initiate an Interdistrict Transfer request at the school district of their residence.
