Dear SCCS Families,
We want to let our community know that our provisionally-appointed School Board trustee for area 6 (Live Oak) has resigned from their seat for personal reasons. This means we once again have an opportunity to share with the community to lead and support your schools.
Trustees provide a vital component to the management of a school district, helping provide public input and transparency in our community. We’re so grateful to have a board focused on students, and partners in creating a school culture focused on student outcomes, excellence and equity.
What does it entail to serve on a School Board?
Serving as a School Board Trustee means attending our regular board meetings every other Wednesday, reviewing information about the meeting, and attending regular meetings with the Superintendent to keep informed on the district between meetings.
How do you apply, if interested?
We invite those interested in the position to request an application by contacting the Superintendent’s Office at 831-429-3410 x48220, or emailing Wednesday Manners at at wednesdaymanners@sccs.net. To be eligible, applicants must be a District Area 6 resident (this is the live oak area - you can find the map of trustee areas here), must be a registered voter, must be a citizen of the state, and not otherwise disqualified from holding a civil office.
You can learn more about this position in this Document:
Applications are due to the Superintendent’s office no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Those who qualify will be invited to a Board Orientation with the Superintendent and Board President. The Board will then review the applications and conduct the interviews of the final applicants at a special Board meeting on Wednesday, October 30. After conducting the interviews in open session, the Board will finalize their selection and make the provisional appointment.
