Dear SCCS Families,
I hope you and your students are settling nicely into the semester! As we start to gather momentum this fall, I am excited to share an opportunity with our community to help lead and support your schools.
This year, we have a vacant position on the School Board and we are looking for candidates to serve as a trustee in Area 6, which covers Live Oak. Trustees provide a vital component to the management of a school district, helping provide public input and transparency in our community.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our retiring Trustee Claudia Vestel for her 16 years of selfless service on our board of trustees, for her thoughtful questions and her informed leadership. Her knowledge, her patience and her commitment to the children of our community has enriched the student experience for our students.
We’re so grateful to have a board focused on students, and partners in creating a school culture focused on student outcomes, excellence and equity.
Serving as a School Board Trustee means attending our regular board meetings every other Wednesday, reviewing information about the meeting, and attending regular meetings with the Superintendent to keep informed on the district between meetings.
We invite those interested in the position to request an application by contacting the Superintendent’s Office at 831-429-3410 x48220, or emailing Wednesday Manners at at wednesdaymanners@sccs.net. To be eligible, applicants must be a District Area 6 resident (this is the live oak area - you can find the map of trustee areas here), must be a registered voter, must be a citizen of the state, and not otherwise disqualified from holding a civil office.
You can learn more about this position in this Document:
Applications are due to the Superintendent’s office no later than 5:00pm on Friday, October 18, 2024. Those who qualify will be invited to a Board Orientation with the Superintendent and Board President. The Board will then review the applications and conduct the interviews of the final applicants at a special Board meeting on Wednesday, October 30. After conducting the interviews in open session, the Board will finalize their selection and make the provisional appointment.Â
For further information, please contact me or my assistant, Wednesday Manners, at 831-429-3410 x48220.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from interested community members!
Warm Regards,
Superintendent Kris Munro
